Bit of a vague one here, I've searched online and seen a couple of posts that mention the same error I'm getting, but none that answer why?

I've created a skin pack for DNN7 using a manifest file and it installs as expected, the first time! I make some changes to the skin files and update the manifest to a new version, try to install and all it tells me is:

StartJob Starting Installation
Info Starting Installation - SkinName
Failure Package Installation aborted - SkinName
Failure Package Installation aborted
Info Installation Failed - SkinName
Info Starting Installation - SkinName
Failure Package Installation aborted - SkinName
Failure Package Installation aborted
Info Installation Failed - SkinName
Info Deleted temporary install folder
EndJob Installation Failed
I'm installing through host each time so it's not the issue of wrong location, any ideas?

As an aside, I can bypass this by uninstalling the skin pack first, but this doesn;t help if I make an update and push to a dev or live site, as I'd need to un-set everything before uninstalling.

Thanks,

Rick.

As another aside, I get the same error when I re-install the same skin pack and use the "fix skin" option.

I have had the same issue, also in DNN6 btw.

I used a SkinResources.zip in the package and found out it contained a manifest file (*.dnn).
while as there was(obviously) already one in the Skinpackage zip file.
After I removed the dnn file from the skin resources file, the package installed correctly..

Timo,

Thanks for the response, unfortunately I'm not using a resources.zip file, and there's only one manifest file in the package. I don have a menu directory though, with a manifest (.xml) file. I wonder if that has any impact.

Rick.

Normally the XML file should not be a problem
Did you test in DNN 6 too?
