I am quite sure that the expression for the calculated field is wrong. I tested successfully this expression:
 [displayname]+'<'+[address_UDT_Original]+'>'

displayname is of type string, address of type email. The hidden column address_UDT_Original holds the plain email address.

Thanks Stefan. It works! Thanks for pointing out how to get the value of the type email field. Being the first time in all these years that I actually used UDT (been meaning to get into it) I didn't realize that I had to use the hidden field in this case. It makes sense now.

This is a great feature now. I am also using Outlook Sync from InteractiveWebs to sync contacts between Outlook and the DNN users list. Now when someone uses the FnL module form to contact us, we can decide whether this message's sender should be added to the (newsletter) mailing list / user list and just drag and drop the email message onto the contact list for the site. Users who are added this way are also automatically assigned a password that they can retrieve through the lost password feature. So in the future these people can log into the site to see more than the anonymous user.

In this way, FnL (formerly UDT) is allowing us to add people to an user/email list selectively, with human judgement as the filter.

Thanks for all your help, Stefan. Your perserverance in this matter is commendable. (I can't seem to find a way to mark this 'done' in this new interface.)

Stefan,

Could I use a similar technique to send email to a group of users in a DNN role?

Thanks.

Mike.

Mike,
yes, this should be possible. GetEmailAddress() returns a string, this can be a single email address, or a list of addresses separated by semicolon.
