I have a client thats a gym/fitness center and they want to have a list of their instructors on their website, containing name, email, cell and other things from their user profile.

I was hoping i could use the member directory for this task, but i cant find anywhere to set up the filter to go by Security Role?
Case is there a instructors in different areas, like some for spinning, some for fitness and some for x-fit and theyre not supposed to show up all together.

So how can i make the member directory show users of a given role only?

Thx
Jake

You might look at the Social Groups and see if filtering the list that way will work for you. You can create roles/social groups and then place member directories on a page that filter by those groups, but I don't think you can allow the users to select which group they want to see.

Thx for the suggestion, i did already try that before posting here and i couldnt make it work the way i need to. :-/
But isnt there another way to obtain what im looking for?

It seems rather silly, to manually make a table with instructors in a TEXT/HTML module and keep those updated, when all the information needed for them are already stored in the DNN db user tables.

Cheers

there is Effority UserDirectory module on codeplex, you might want to have a look at.

Thx for the suggestion Leupold, i did already try it before posting here.
However because u suggested it, i gave it another try and i think i got it to work this time.

When i tried the first time i ran into the problem that when filtering upon roles, i had to filter out any role but one custom role i set up, but filtering out "subscribers" prevented any user being displayed.

So i got around it by making a new custom role called "NonInstructor" and for the list of instrictors, i simply filtered out all of those who is assigned to the "NonInstructor" role.

The template option in effority works great and i managed to set up a descent looking list in a few minutes. :-)
