Pardon if this has already been covered elsewhere, but I searched the forum and couldn't find any mention of my issue.

I upgraded to DNN 7 this morning, and my biggest concern right now is that I'm unable to add Modules to a page. If I open the page I want to edit and hit Modules/Add New Module, I get no response. Page doesn't error out or anything, I just get nothing. Both Add New Module and Add Existing Module act as if they're broken links.

Not sure if its related or not, since I'm trying to figure out the new layout, but my page shows 'Edit Page' in the upper right. If I pull that down, I have a blue button that says Edit This Page, but 'stay in Edit Mode' doesn't allow me to click the check box. I'm missing the 'Manage' button that showed up on each Module on my previous DNN version. Is that missing due to not being in edit mode?

With DNN 7 there is no longer a Manage button for each module. Once the page is in edit mode a set of three icons for editing, settings, and moving the module will appear to the top right of each module. As you are not able to switch the page to Edit mode you are not seeing those icons.

There have been several similar issues with not being able to add modules or switch the page to edit mode reported in the forums and the Gemini support tracker some of which seem to be browser or IIS configuration dependent.

  • What browser (name and version) are you using to manage the site? Have you tried using a different browser?
  • Can you confirm that the site's application pool is running in integrated pipeline mode?
  • When Javascript error reporting/debugging is enabled in the browser are you seeing any Javascript errors?

As a temporary workaround you can switch from the new Control Bar to the legacy Ribbon Bar control panel in Host --> Host Settings, Other (or Advanced) Settings.

I've tried in both Chrome (23.0.1271.95) and IE (9.8.8112.16421), both with same result.

I've checked my Application Pool settings, but can't find any settings for Pipeline mode (under DefaultAppPool which is my selected App Pool). Several sites mention it being under 'Basic Settings', but I don't see that anywhere.

Your workaround worked great, it got me functional for now. Thanks a million!!!

Use ribbonBar instead of controlBar.

Kevin, which Windows version are you running?
DNN 7 requires Windows Server 2008/Windows Vista and above.
