Hi:

I'm testing the community version of DNN v 7.0

We have 3 portals. I need to share content across portals, is that possible?  I need to have one source for the content, so when I update it, all pages that have that content get the updated text.
My search for this solution either lands me in really old pages or not-too-clear answers.

Thanks

Kamy

You could build a module that displays the data and place that module on pages within all 3 portals.

Thanks for the reply, however I'm new to DNN and haven't learned how to create a module yet. I know I should.

When I Export a pages content, it will be available through that site, I don't understand why it is not accessible everywhere, specially to a Host user.

Kamran,
DNN 7 PROFESSIONAL has module sharing across portals. The ZLDNN module wrapper can do this as well, but I believe you have the be the SuperUser to include a module from another portal.
You could also potentiall use the Reports module, if the content you're sharing isn't too complex.

DNN does not include cross portal content sharing by default in the community edition.

In the professional edition it supports cross portal content sharing thru the Portal Groups system.

In reality however - the only reason it is NOT available in the HTML module on the community edition is that the CODE is not included to allow it to happen.

All portals on the SAME database actually have access to the entire database - which is actually one of the reasons we dont recommend multiportal hosting to our clients - there are potential security leaks if for example you have 2 different clients on the same hosting - then with some RAZOR script and admin access they can actually see the data from other portals on the same portal hosting.

As such - it is not that hard to create your own modules that do allow cross portal content - since the data is all there - all you need to know in your clone module is the moduleid of the host module - and where the data is stored in the database.
