Hello Everyone,

I'm evaluating the Form and List module for a customer of mine and we've come across a few questions.  I read through 15+ pages of forum posts looking for the answer and didn't really find a definitive answer to the questions.  If there is better place to look these kind of questions up please let me know.  I'm looking to see if the module has this stuff built into it.

1. Does FnL have auto-numbering built into it?  Each new record gets its own unique number starting with 1 and incrementing with each new record.  If not, is there a way you'd suggest to build something like this or is it all custom code?

2. Is there a way to allow an attachment (or several attachments) to be attached to the form?  I saw a post (http://www.formandlist.com/blog.aspx?id=16011&title=Adding new data types: A working example) for adding an attachment but I then read in a forum post this doesn't work anymore.  I'm trying to determine if this is again built-in or custom code.

3. Is there a way to have a list of values look-up to an external SQL table?  Once again, built in or custom?

4. Is there other good examples of what this module can do?  I was looking through the list of site using DNN and I wasn't find good examples of what this functionality can accomplish vs what has to be built custom.

Finally, if there is other websites, documentation, examples, blah blah blah, I should review/reference please post them and I will read more before asking additional questions.

I'm impressed with what I've seen so far, just need to get a little detail.

Denny

Thank you in advance

Hi Denny..

The F&L module is quite powerful and it is an amazing module.  I use it for a number of different features and on a number of different websites.

But, there are things which the F&L can't accomplish.  We've purchased another form module which allows us more customization and allows for external database look-ups, etc.  You may want to look into the XMod Pro module; http://www.dnndev.com.

Thanks..

Jeff,

Thank you for the feedback.  I'm a consultant so I'm trying to evaluate the big ASP.NET open source CMS packages and determine which package meets most of my clients needs.  They are a small company so aren't looking to purchase any additional software outside of the software they already have available.

If we determine DNN is the best product out there for my clients needs we might be forced to go the route of buying the module or a similar module.

I'm afraid due to the time of the year I might be stuck with less than definitive information of DNN's out of the box capabilities.

Thanks again
