made my backups - downloaded  version 7.0 - copied files and now all i get is a runtime error. I even copied the backup back over and the same thing. I then deleted the directory, created a new one, downloaded the install for version 7 put it in that directory and the same thing, runtime error. Now no version of DNN will run on my server, what could be the problem.

Did your restore your site files and database using the backup copy?

Does your server and ASP.Net configuration meet the following minimum requirements for DotNetNuke v 7 ?

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/D...

Note that if you were previously running the 6.x version site with less than the above minimum requirements (such as with ASP.Net 2.0/3.5) you must first configure the hosting environment to meet the new minimum requirements before upgrading.

Did you also create a backup of the MS SQL Server database prior to the upgrade attempt and restore that along with the file system backup following the first upgrade failure? Note also that when restoring the filesystem backup you should first remove all of the files and child folders from the root install folder before copying the backup back over.

Ok, I figured out that I needed to use .net 4 or above. Got 2 sites upgraded but the menu's on those sites are messed up. I used artisteer to create the skins. On one the login is in the middle of the menu "behind" another choice and the other the login does not even show up. One site I can just delete and redo the other I really dont want to. Also the database connection issue is found a fix but i dont like using it, I had to use the root account and password for the site to connect it would not accept any other usernames and passwords.
