My suggestion is that you put your images and files into folders. Generally the file manager will be slow if you have all the files in the root directory. Best practices is to add to folders so that when you go to file manager, it will load up quicker with all the folders displaying first, and a nearly empty initial folder.

That will speed things up and we tell all our customers to do this and have never had problems with the file manager being slow.

Thanks Nina,

Yes I put all images and files into folders. I mean when using file manager it very slow for loading, very slow for add new folder and slow for add content to folder. The speed execution website is normal, only slow when try using File Manager.

The problem seems to be as follows:

If there is a DNN Defined ILLEGAL CHARACTER in a FOLDER NAME, then the File Manager SYNC function no longer works.

Illegal names can occur when a Directory is created outside of DNN and then as a result of a SYNC operation, the Directory is added to the SQL Data Base of Folders.

Once the Directory is added, it cannot be deleted through the normal File Manager process.

There seems to be no AUDIT facility in DNN to validate Directory Names and produce an ERROR LIST.

It seems that if the Directory is created using DNN modules, then an illegal Directory name cannot occur.

There is no clear definition of what is a legal and illegal Directory name. We do know that the characters ' and " are not allowed, but can occur.
