I really miss the old "Display Title" checkbox from the module settings. This would determine whether the Title was displayed along with the module on the page. It appears that this functionality has been droppped in favor of allowing us to clear the contents of the Title field and effectively have no Title and therefore no Title displayed with the module.

This is fine until you start creating portal templates. The behaviour here is that the export process inserts the Module Name as a Title for each instance of a module which does not have a Title. Then when you run an install  using the portal template you end up with a DNN site fully populated with modules which now have the Module Name as their Titles rather than the blank title you started with in the original portal.

This not an issue on the export side but on import.
I'm not sure why (will check) if a module on the template is found without a title it will use the Module definition name for its title.

But I don't think this has nothing to do with the DisplayTitle option. If you really need that feature is as easy as creating a container without a [TITLE] and use it wherever you need it.

I fixed the problem in the templates so the module title from the template is always preserved.
If you need to fix it, change line 1105 in PortalController.vb to:

modTitle = XmlUtils.GetNodeValue(nodeModule, "title")

Thank you. That makes sense about using the container without a [Title] .. (Doh!). Also thank you for the expert and timely information regarding the template import process. This has been most useful for me
