It is a recurrent event at times, with a simple but stupid solution.
Whenever I get the UnderConstruction.htm error message "..site is currently unavailable" I have to ftp the site, copy the web.config file to my desktop, put in an extra linebreak or space somewhere, copy it back to the server, and hit the webaddress again - and the site opens.
This works OK, but it is a bit cumbersome, and not really what dnn-users should be expected to do. After all, the aim for dnn is to be simple and straight forward, right?
As I have understood from a number of posts, what is really happening is a need to restart of the application pool - whenever it has stalled due to some unknown serverchanges or what have you. Also, this is a reccuring problem to quite a few other dnn users as well, that year in and out have learned the trick to fiddle with the web.config file to make the pool restart.
Why then is there not a simpler procedure for restarting the application pool when the site is down?? It could be just a simple web-address to the site that did the trick?
