Hello,

I have followed the installation videos to the letter.
everything is configured as specified.

When I try to navigate to the dnndev.me site, I get a 404 error.

Cannot, for the life of me, find where there might be an issue. Checked and rechecked everything done.

Please advise, ask questions, whatever... I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

thanks.

OK, correct me if I'm wrong on this.

The site is configured in IIS to point to the physical dir of C:\dotnetnuke\dnndev.me

BUT

In the 404 error page, it tells me the physical path is:
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\dnndev.me

WHY? What have I missed in IIS?

I have now created a folder dnndev.me under inetpub:

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\dnndev.me

I have set permissions on that folder as per the installation video.

I've added the dnndev.me website to IIS, pointing at that physical location under inetpub. Again as per video, including app pool settings...

Checked all other settings. EXACTLY as described in the installation videos.

Navigate to the localhost/dnndev.me

I now get this error:

"It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."

AND this line highlighted from web.config:

Line 107:

Someone PLEASE tell me what the @#%^@ is going wrong here!

All on Windows 8, new install, all running perfectly.

Thanks

OK, figured it out.

If you extract the DNN install files to a folder under inetpub, you need to refresh the default website in IIS and convert the dnndev.me folder to an application.

That should be mentioned in the video(s).

More to come if further glitches found.

Thanks
