Could you please elaborate more on the 2nd approach:

2) Create another portal in DNN and redirect users to that portal if they are visiting the site via a mobile device.

Do you need to use the Site Redirection Management features in DNN 7 to create a redirection for each page, or is there a simpler, "blanket" method to catch all requests?

There are probably other ways, but I would use the redirection management options in DNN7 myself

This video, Redirecting website visitors to your mobile site, should give you insight into this approach. In the redirection management screen you can setup rules to target specific devices or you can make the threshold of redirection more wide, or blanketed as you mentioned, targeting only mobile devices. How you set it up is up to you.

I really appreciate the video tutorial, but was wondering perhaps, could you add some 'verbage' and explain more about what it is that's being done, how, and what will these settings effect on the site?  the video's content is hazy and unclear as to what is written on your screen, making it a bit difficult to follow. 

I've been using DNN for a couple of years now, and currently I have one client that is using a non-mobile-ready skin but wants mobile access enabled, without purchasing a mobile ready skin, or paying me to do the upgrade work ... if this method that you use will not interrupt the current website content, but make the site mobile ready, could you please offer some verbage explanation as to how this works? 

The site in question is on a DNN V7.* platform using the AlphaBrisk Skin package.  Also, I used the Community Edition and do my work on this site through the website host's server via the internet, in a 'stage.website.com' before the site goes live.  This client wants his site up and ready asap, and should he not be happy, I could lose the income.  Any help you can offer here would be greatly appreciated.
