Guys,

I'm working on DNN 6.2.2 site. I've created a module, tested, and not I'd like to deploy it. It's been difficult for me to find version specific documentation (VS Templates and docs), I'm hoping the group could point me in the correct direction.

  • My Visual Studio 2010 DNN module template, "Build Deployment Package" does not create a package that I can install.
    • What the best way to get it working? (My thoughts)
    • Can the latest VS template 7.0 version work on a 6.2.2 install?
    • Can you point me to the 6.2.2. deployment documentation?

Thanks

Craig,

propably it's not the best way, but it is safe enough for me. I wrote a batch file that copies everything to some working directory and then zips the package. (I did this at times when there were no wizards around and so on). The main thing is the manifest file (yourModule.dnn).

To create this, you can use the create extension wizard you find on the Host :: Extensions page. The file created is a good starting point. Anyway, you should read the blogs and tutorials here in the Resources to be able to "refine" your manifest, and then test it until it works.

Best wishes
Michael

Chris' template does a lot of this for you:

When you build the module in VS, it creates an install package that can then be uploaded/installed to DNN. It's a nice addon to VS and I recommend using it.
