Hi

I am having problem logging into my DNN website. I have set up the website and have a login module which has worked fine for months. But I am in a new location and now when I or anyone else from this office logs in then it seems to time out? i.e. once I put in the username and password (which I know is correct) then it tries to login but after a period of time it just returns to the login boxes. It does not have any messages saying wrong login etc. It works fine from any other location (e.g. at home). It did work OK previously form this new location as well but now does not work for anyone in the office who I have asked to test. The internet connection has got worse recently and we all have our own separate DSL lines but seemingly it still wont work from this location. Occasionally we can login which makes me think it is perhaps timing out on login and is due to a flaky internet? If this is the problem am I able to change how long the login module tries to login before it times out? (NB not the session time out as we have not managed to login at this stage and most info I have found on the web relates to session timeout)

Thx

Where did you post this message from?

You had to log in to this DNN web site to post. Did that work better/worse than your own site.

Hi Richard,
Thats a good point. I am logging in from home, so not the location where the problem is occuring. I will however log into this site tomorrow from the office and get back with the results.
Thank you

Hi
I seem to be able to log into this website fine, but not my own. So it seems site/host specific. Do you think that it is possible that it is timing out on the login? I which case in DNN can you increase the time it gives you to login?
Thank you

Well - how long are we talking about?

If you can login (consistently) from home then it suggests that whatever happens in the server happens fast enough to cope.

It sounds to me like somthing specific to the connection to your site from where you are, or specific to the computer(s) you use in the office. So what do ping times look like? Are they radically different to your site vs sites that work? How does that compare with at home where your site does work?

DNN sites use cookies. It may be worth dumping all the cookies for your site's domain - it gets you closer to a virgin experience.

You could install Fiddler (www.fiddler2.com) that would allow you to see the requests/responses make by your browser to the site. There may be interesting information in there.

Best wishes,
