Michael,

again: In the documentation mentioned above, I read

[...]
d.In the Select which computers may relay through this virtual server area, click Only the list below, and then enter the IP addresses of the on-premises LOB devices and application servers that will relay through the SMTP server.
[...]

At this step, enter the IP address of your web server.

Best wishes
Michael

DNN 7.1 will work with Office 365, I have it configured and working.

The settings need to be as follows:

SMTP Server and Port: smtp.outlook.com:587
Authentication: Basic
Use SSL:
Username/Password: Your office 365 username (e-mail address) and password.

Note: DNN will send e-mail "from" whatever e-mail address is specific in the Host --> Basic Settings --> Host Details secitoin so the "Host E-Mail" is used as the from address (and "to" address for the test e-mail button) so you need to make sure whatever username you specificy above either matches this e-mail address or the user has permission to Send As the host e-mail address.

Hope this helps.

Steve.

I wish it was this simple.

We have a hybrid environment, and these settings are exactly what I have been trying with no success. Only the test email goes through. All other emails show as "sent successfully" but never show up in any of the trace logs or reach their destination. Still puzzled....

We are having the same problem. The test email works fine, but no other emails are flowing. We just switched to Office 365 and this is a major problem now.

Has anyone resolved the issue? We are using the same setting for SMTP as stated previously, except we use smtp.office365.com. We also do not have a hybrid environment.

Thank you,

Justin

If anyone else has this issue or a similar issue, it is related to "Send As" permission. The emails were not sending as the host settings email address, but as the designated Site Administrator email address. This did not match the email address of the user we were using in Office 365, so you either need to make these match or add a delegate permission to allow the other account (and you must have this account on Office 365) to get the Send As permission for the mailbox.

Here is a link for those instructions, although keep in mind you can now do this through the UI of Office 365 and will not need to use Powershell.

Thank you,

Justin
