Nope, never heard back. And now that 7.XX using the Gravity skin, I'm not sure that it will be addressed.
What I did was to modify a container skin to provide the functionality I needed. It uses the standard expand/collapse feature in DNN. On most pages, I set it to all closed, so that the user can see all the titles of the sections on the page. On some pages, I set the main module to open, so they see the content immediately.
By the way, I also set the modules as copies of the main site's module, but just set the skin on that page to the mobile skin. That way, when an editor adds/changes content or updates a calendar, they don't have to edit the mobile module as well.
You can see the skin in action at this address. However, it has not been released to live status yet, so if you click on a menu item, you will go to the normal web site. You can resize the page width of your browser to see the menu expand and shrink imitating a mobile device.
