OK, I see the bug. It won't save the main tick box for those two sections. I'll get it fixed asap, then hopfully EPT can package quickly.

I've checked the fix in, over two EPT...

Hi Guys,

New module is great and social features are most welcome - well done! Just a couple of observations which would really enhance the new features.

1. We use the calendars on sites a lot for different departments/areas/groups. We then have a dashboard page where the sub calendar feature has been excellent over the years where we add all the calendars. It is great for a quick overview of exactly what is happening everywhere. The categories then are great for filtering the types of events to drill down. All from a single page.
I noticed with the new events module that an instance of the module I add on a groups page cannot be added as a sub calendar? I was hoping this would be the case. It would also be great to have the group name next of underneath the subcalendar name (or the choice in settings)

2. Another feature that would be fantastic is the ability to take it a step futher and have the groups available for selection to filter like it is currently with categories. So again you would have a calendar with sub calendars that are on social pages and you can filter by group by selecting from a drop down list.

This can all be tied to just social calendars like you currently have in the settings of the module. So the features above would only be available if I set the calendar as social. Once I do this I can now add only social sub calendars and filter by social groups.

Thanks.

I'll have a look and see how easy item 1 is to implement. I'd like to understand where you would place the master calendar, and assuming there could be two sets of social groups of a portal how you select which one to chose sub-calendars from. Any thoughts on how you see that working?

Thanks, Roger!  (Sorry I didn't reply to your post asking for more info regarding the glitch...I was out of the office on Friday.)

Hi Roger,

We have like a dashboard page that provides a summary of everything in the portal to latest forum posts, journal, blog entries, etc., with the Events module sitting proudly at the top of the page showing all the events from all relevant calendars in the portal (could be 30 calendars). The categories are great to drill down and importantly, the event description shows what department calendar the event is from on the display. In addition, if we were to also indicate what group in the department this was from it would be ideal.
We also then have the individual department calendars where the events are inputted. Again if we could filter groups here it would be ideal. So here would be my thinking;

Master Calendar
We seperate our departments by role groups. So we could have 10 role groups with 15 groups in each one. So in theory you would probably need two drop down selections. One to select the role group, and the other to filter the group.

Deparment Calendar
So when we drop the social groups module on to a page we configure it to show groups from a particular role group. If the events module could do the same thing, show events from all social groups in a role group that would be fantastic feature keeping in line with the social features within DNN. You would then have a drop down list showing the social groups which you could filter from.

Hope this is not too confusing.

Hi Leslie,

This would take some thinking about to get implemented, so I don't think I can just slip it into v6.1.0.

Could I ask that you raise this on CodePlex and I'll try to get it into the next release since we are focusing on Social Enhancements at the moment.

Thanks
Roger
