Hi All,

I am using DNN 6.x which uses JQuery by default. I have a requirement to use prototype.js in some of the modules that I am building. As $ variable is used by both the libraries I am getting various errors on the page. Is there a way I can use prototype in DNN 6.x without getting conflict errors?

Thanks Dev

jQuery.noConflict may help - but only if all the other jQuery users on the page have decided to play ball.

prototype may have somthing similar.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for a quick reply. When I add Prototype.js on default pages of DNN the pop-up windows (like login, register) stops working. (By "default pages", I mean pages that do not have any custom module other than html module added on them).

Does this indicates that out of box DNN modules are not using jquery in no conflict mode? In such a scenario (where DNN is not using jquery in no conflict mode) even if I use jquery in no conflict mode it will not help because conflict might be come from DNN scripts?

I am not sure how to solve/debug this problem? Any pointers will help a lot..

Many thanks
Dev

I don't have any answers to this. If it were my project I would consider:
- not using Prototype
- finding some way of controlling Prototype so that it does not conflict with jQuery (because I know I cannot control the people who write the other modules on the page).

Best wishes,
