Will DNN Community Edition always be free and available for download and support?

I ask this because over the 10+ years, I've seen DNN change its business model, which is good. They obviously need to make money. But after visiting the site now, there's no mention or comparison of the community edition. It's as if management wants to rub out the free version in favor of of the paying one.

If it will always be available and free, why is it buried from view on the home page and hidden for newbies to discover? Thanks.

Collin,

I am not an employee of the DNN Corp, nor am I a fortune-teller. So I do not have any idea what the Corp. will do in the future, but it makes absolutely no sense to bury the Community Edition.

When the Professional version was anounced in 2008, it was said that the Community edition will be availble furthermore - and for free.

Best wishes
Michael

Greetings Collin ~

DotNetNuke Community Edition will always be free and open source; and community support will always be available.

Although the Community Edition does not have much surface area in the Products sections of our website, it does have equal footing in others. Our Download page is one of the most highly trafficked pages on our site and the Community Edition is the first available listing. And DotNetNuke CE is also still very highly visible through some channels that commercial versions are not (such as Codeplex and the MS Web Application Gallery).

However, we tend to agree with you that as we've focused heavily on promoting our commercial products, we've not placed as much emphasis on CE promotion; and this has not gone unnoticed by myself and a few others. We're actually in the midst of a number of website changes and considering how best to address it.

Thanks for noticing Collin, and thanks for your continued enthusiasm for DotNetNuke!
