Hi,

I am planning to start using DNN CE 7.0.3 with Telerik Controls Q1-2013. It looks like that I cannot do that because DNN CE 7.0.3 is using Telerik 2012 version and that stops me from using the latest version of Telerik ASP.NET AJAX controls.

Is there any work-around about this dilemma? Do I have to use Professional Edition of DNN is I need to use Telerik controls in native mode? But I want to take advantage of Telerik latest release.

What a mess!

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, Ken,

Thank you for your reply. Will you be able to incorporate Telerik control to their latest release in the up-coming DNN release?

If you do, that would be great and we will wait. Otherwise we have to look for alternatives.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Somebody from DNN should respond to be sure here, but I think you can manually set your web.config file to use a newer version of the telerik controls. You should certainly do it in a test install before doing it live. Also, recognize that it might get messed up in future updates from DNN and it's likely you'd have to reset it when you do updates. There are additional risks as well... some DNN feature might depend on something that was changed in a telerik release - that's unlikely since DNN does stay pretty close to the current release, but it could happen.

Hi, Mike,

Thank you for your comments. I think i tried changing web.config and it ran into some issues. but maybe it is worth trying it again because i was rushing for a solution so I might not have done it properly. I will go back and give it another try.

In the meantime, i hope DNN 7.0.5 will use the latest version of Telerik. They have done a great job in DNN. So hopefully they can keep DNN release in sync with Telerik release in future. The problem is that I cannot find the trial version of telerik which matches the version in DNN release. I am still working with telerik support team, but so far there is no solution yet.

Thanks/Kevin
