Dear all,

Having not used DNN for nearly 2 years because of web.config having an incorrect version number of the Telerik.Web.UI dll, which I finally managed to resolve thanks to a post from Ken Grierson, my installation started displaying a DotNetNuke Upgrade Page (see below). I was unable to enter using my superuser id and password and so I went into the GoDaddy Hosting Connection where I successfully installed each patch until I am now at 6.2.5, but my DNN site is still displaying the upgrade page. I tried to search around on this forum and saw that the upgrade page often appears when DNN has a problem connecting to the database, but I have checked the user/pw from the web.config SiteSqlServer entries and everything seems to be OK.

GoDaddy Tech Support suggested I take a backup of the database and DNN files, remove DNN completely, then reinstall it and restore the backup. However, I'm not sure how likely this is to resolve the problem and might just be a waste of time or even worse I might create even more problems.

What should I do????? Any ideas?

Best regards,

Eli

DotNetNuke Upgrade - Version 06.02.05

Current Version - 05.05.01

Welcome to the DotNetNuke Upgrade Page.

The first step is to choose the language you wish to use for the Upgrade.

You are about to upgrade your website to a more recent version of the DotNetNuke application. Applying upgrades on a consistent basis is the best way to ensure that you are protecting the integrity of your investment and the security of your users and assets. Before proceeding with the automated upgrade process please ensure that:
  • you have made plans to first attempt this process in a staging environment
  • you have documented your current installation characteristics including doing research on the compatibility of any third party modules which you may be using
  • you have created the necessary backups of your environment so that you will be able to restore your website in the event of an unexpected upgrade failure.

Just wanted to see if you ever determined a resolution to this problem?  I am having the same issue and also can not find a resolution.
