I am using the web matrix installer to install the community version of DNN.  I've tried this on 2 computers and a windows 2008 r2 server.  Each time it asks me for the SQL express sa password, which I enter, and then later in the install it asks for the sa password again.  Each time it says the password is incorrect but I am 100% sure I am entering the right password.  I have no choice but to cancel the install.  How do I get around this issue?

Try to log in to SQL Server using the SA account to make sure it's working.

On the Windows 2008 R2 server, I went ahead and downloaded/installed the Sql Server 2012 Express since the DNN web matrix didn't setup my database. I got things installed to the point that I was able to bring up the DNN wizard: http://www.mysite.com/Install/Install... .

When I go to the "database information" section, it says I cannot pick the "default" radio button. Only "custom" is available to me. When I choose SQL Express and indicated "Integrated", I get this error:

ERROR:Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 15382
Message:

I don't understand why it can't find SQL Express even after I downloaded the full-featured 64-bit install for SQL Express from the Microsoft site.

please make sure, you enabled TCP/IP protocol for both, SQL server and client. If you want to use sa account, you need to enable mixed authentication. if your sql server is on a different machine, you need to enable remote connectivity.

I had to install sql server 2012 manually.  I had to create a blank database first.

Then I enabled TCP/IP per your advice and the wizard continued successfully!

Thanks so much
