Hi,

I am using Active Forum on my page but it should not be accessible unless you are logged in. I'm assuming that I would have a page with the "Account Login" control and once logged in, I would redirect the user to the page with my "Active Forum". I'm new to this and I don't quite know how to implement this. First, how do I get my login control to work. I didn't see any settings to configure this to accept users. Should it just automatically work using my database and aspnet_membership tables? If so, nothing happens when I try to register a user...the popup form just disappears and I can't register anyone.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

It's mainly to do with setting permissions for the module.

If you go to the Active Forums module settings, you can set the view permissions to Registered Users and then only logged in members can see the forums,

If you want to, you can leave the permissions at All Users and then go in to the Active Forums Control Panel and set the security under Forums. All users could see the forums were there but not access them for example.

Registering members should just work according to how you have set Admin > Site Settings > User Account Settings > Registration Settings.(ie Private, Public or Verified). Don't know why the pop up dispapears.

Thanks Pingle,

I'm getting closer but still not working 100%. Do I have to set an Account Login control on my page or does one just pop up if the user has not been authenticated? Not sure how it works.

Thanks

OK, I got it. I put an Account Login Control on the same page and set the Visibility to Unauthenticated users and to hide it for Registered Users and on my Forum Control, I did the opposite.

Thanks for your help Pingle. You pointed me in the right direction.
