Ok so I tried on a browser that was not logged into the developer paypal account, licked through to enroll for the event. Was redirected to the Paypal page with this URL:

https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bi...

It then prompts me to login and then after that the same issue happens where I am sent to a page that has the QueryString /?ctl=PPEnroll and no content on the page.

Are you saying that during sandbox testing I should extract the correct querystrings and use that for testing?

You can extract the return URL to prove the return URL is correct, if you copy it into a browser, you will see it works. In theory when you hit te return link after paying paypal should pass that URL, which presumably it isn't. One might presume therefore there is an issue at the paypal end, but I'd be surprised if that is true, but it is possible.

No, during testing when logged in to sandbox it should work exactly as if in production. I'm not going to set this up to debug tonight ( 19:30) in the uk now. I'll look in the morning...

It looks to me like PayPal isn't handling the url format that is being passed. Not sure why, because the url works fine if you copy it into a browser.

My site passes one like - https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=paypal%40thedivingclub.co.uk&item_name=Social+-+Talk+from+Andy+Torbet+(+1.00+GBP+)&item_number=14&quantity=1&custom=03/07/2013&amount=1.00&currency_code=GBP&return=http://www.thedivingclub.co.uk/ClubEvents/SocialCalendar/tabid/53/ctl/PPEnroll/Mid/863/signupid/14/status/enrolled/Default.aspx&cancel_return=http://www.thedivingclub.co.uk/ClubEvents/SocialCalendar/tabid/53/ctl/PPEnroll/Mid/863/signupid/14/status/cancelled/Default.aspx&notify_url=http%3a//www.thedivingclub.co.uk/DesktopModules/Events/EventIPN.aspx&undefined_quantity=&no_note=1&no_shipping=1

Have you changed your friendly url settings? Could you let me know what they are set to?

Thanks
Roger

I've spent some time trying to figure this, this morning. I pretty sure the issue is the ? in the url being passed. I suspect this is because of your friendly url settings, but not 100% sure. I have default friendly urls enabled on my site and don't get that ? in my urls sent to paypal.

I think I would need to see if I can force the url to be sent without ?, but need to validate that it will then work on your site on return. I think I need to know your TabId for the Home page to test that on your site.
