Hi Guys, 2 instances of DNN7seem to have been taken offline by the use of a app_offline.htm file being written to the site root.

I both cases this file was not added by us . Has any one any answers why DNN would write this file automatically.

Are you sure DNN created those files? I was under the impression that we had to create them when/if we wanted to take DNN offline.

Hi Mark.
No, I am not certain that DNN created those files? but I am certain that myself or the only other Admin did not create them.. in fact that was why I posted as I cannot see how or where they were created from.
The only clue we have is that the latest occurance took place last friday at 11:50, owner = Administrator.
We are using remote host to access a virtual web server 2008R2. We did shut down the remote session rather than log off on friday?

It is not really a problem as long as it an isolated occurance but would be nice if someone had an answer.

I've never seen DNN create that page. I would keep an eye on your site to make sure someone isn't accessing it without your knowledge.

The only thing that I am aware of that can cause app_offline to be created automatically is accessing your site using visual studio.

If you connect to your site using visual studio and try to publish or debug the app_offline file can get created - if you crash out of VS it is possible for the file to not be cleaned up.
