Hi all,

I've just installed DNN7 through WebMatrix. This is my first time working on a windows server. Currently, my base url is e.g. localhost:14512. How would I go about changing it to, for e.g. mywebsite.dev? Do I change it in web matrix, or dnn? I know that for apache, I would simply do this in the vhosts alias config file.

Thanks a lot!

You can create a new website in IIS and give it an alias or access it via a pre-determined port, like this:

http://localhost:88

I don't know if there's another way, but you can also use the hosts file for this... So, in IIS, you just add a binding for mywebsite.dev for that site on port 80. Then, in your hosts file, just add that entry and have it point to 127.0.0.1... That'll make it work in your browser.

By default webmatrix uses its own local webserver for testing and development - it is not designed as a deployment platform.

To deploy a site you should host dnn on a full IIS web server - this will allow you to properly configure domains and bindings etc.
