Hello,

Can anyone tell me the highest version of DNN that can be installed on a server that only has .net framework 2.0 please?

My current server only supports 2.0 and as it's a shared server they will not upgrade the framework.

Many thanks

Trevor,

according to my first suspect and this page it should be 04.09.05, maybe earlier.

Best wishes
Michael

Are you sure, your server has just .Net 2.0 installed? Versions 3.0 and 3.5 also show up as "ASP.Net 2" in application pool and .Net 3.5 is supported until latest version of DNN 6 (6.2.5 atm).

Cant say it more simply than - think its time to move hosting providers.

Given that installing asp.net 4.0 on a ms server in no way effects anything else running on the server that might still be running asp.net 2.0 - it kinda seems like your provider is way behind the support ball.

sorry for the late response. quick update.

after rebuilding the live site again. I was at my wits end and called the hosting company for support.

so instead of being told "tough luck" your server is .net2.0 , lo and behold. this support guys tells there is an upgrade/migration option in my hosting control panel which will move the site onto a new platform that supports 3.5

happy days. I took it.

so.... long story. hours. and four more phone calls. the site kicks up with a web.config problem about . I query this with hosting support and they tell me on this platform are not allowed.

nightmare.

do I need the ?
