I'd like to use the events module to schedule volunteers at our school and need the following functionality:

  1. Create the event with no limit on users to volunteer (enroll).  (got that)
  2. Select (approve) a certain number of volunteers for the event and leave the rest unapproved (spare folks in case we need them).
  3. Allow unapproved enrollments to be removed by the user.  (they figured out they were busy and can't be on standby any more)
  4. Send a reminder email to all enrolled users at a certain time prior to the event.  (Hey.. remember, you volunteered for this)

I can't figure out how to implement step 3 and 4.

Suggestions?

Hi Kevin,

I think for item 3, the user ought to be able to go to their My Enrollments view and delete the enrollment. If I remember correctly this ability is available only for 'free' events. If it doesn't allow this, let me know and I'll see if it is easily feasible.

For item 4, there isn't a way to automatically send an email at a point in time as a reminder to all people enrolled. Though you can go into edit view and manually send an email.

What I do is have a custom script that sends the e-mails. I run this as a Scheduled Task in Windows. If you don't administer your own server, I think you could create a Scheduled Event within DNN to accomplish the same thing.
