I've followed the step-by-step procedures for copying a hosted DNN install onto a local machine from this site:
http://www.ifinity.com.au/2012/09/05/Creating_a_test_copy_of_your_DotNetNuke_website

I brought down my database.  Created a user, tested the connection and all works fine.
I added a new alias into my Portals table for my local site.

When I open the website in VS 2010 I am immediately confronted with 14 build errors...
Error 1 'DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.Icon.BorderWidth.get' must declare a body because it is not marked abstract or extern ...

I am also getting errors saying that asp:UpdatePanel is not recognized.

Is there anyone who has experience with moving a DNN site to a loca environment and has had it successfully build?

I'd certainly appreciate any help.

getting DNN to run after a move is a different subject than compiling the website in VS.
Are you able to get the site running before touching it with VS?
Please make sure you are running the website in integrated mode and check permission for the ASP.Net user, configured in IIS Application pool.

Cheers from Germany,

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for the reply.  I am not able to get the site to run.  When I hit the initial page, I ge a screen that says the site is under construction.  That was what actually made me open it in VS and compile it.  At that point I started seeing all of those errors.

I am running in integrated mode and do have my permissions set properly for the ASP.Net user.

Hi Sebastian,

Alright, I've got the website running locally.  I'm able to navigate through my site in a browser and everything is looking good.  When I open the website in VS 2010 and click build, I get a bunch of errors still (Same as above).

I am using:
.NET Framework 4.0
SQL Server 2012
VS 2010 SP1
DNN 7.00.0.5

Do you have any advice on what is causing this issue?

Hi Richard,

If I may ask, why do you want to run DNN from Visual Studio? I ask that because it is one thing is to run your site locally. But another very different thing is to be able to run it from within Visual Studio.

Cheers,
