If you get something like:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

you should probably check to make sure that the permissions on the gallery directory are correct.

In particular the Portals/0/Gallery/123 directory needs read AND write access to it.  If it is missing the read access you will get a nice error message saying permissions are wrong, but if the write access is missing you will get the above nasty error.

Note:  Since the file is read by the ASP.Net worker process you will need to make sure that he has write access.  The username is different between 2000/XP and 2003, but should be something like:  aspnet_wp
