DNN versions of usability varied from version to version.
Original developer left... not good.
I'd request some budget to get all the errors you are writing down to upper management.
Someone needs to get in there and clean it up and evaluate moving to a more recent version.

Specifics would be helpful for the community to provide accurate advice. To echo what others have said, DNN performs very well when setup, maintained and hosted properly. Many of the issues you have described sound like infrastructure or poor execution from your predecessor.

I'd encourage you to understand what DNN should be for your needs vs jumping to the conclusion that DNN is just "terrible".

No matter how many times they try to say this is a good product, it isn't. Just because they updated the look and feel of their website doesn't mean that the problems with this hunk of junk have been fixed. So bad

Put another fresh instance of DNN on the server and see how it reacts. If it works fine, you know yours has a problem.

If you're getting all kinds of errors, your setup is probably misconfigured. Depending on how much content and modules you have already, maybe it's better to create a new DNN instance and migrate the content over there. That might be faster than fixing the issues you're having. I wonder if there's a module which can do most of the migration work automatically.

Yes, DNN is this terrible. Hands down worst CMS I have ever encountered.
