So I have a DNN website running on IIS on my local machine. I was about to take the website live when I realized the tables in my database were not visible, however the website works completely fine! Kinda crazy. Obviously the website is running fine which means the data is being stored into tables somewhere just not visible.

I checked the Database configuration in Host > Dashboard, and it says it is using SQL Express Edition (64-bit). I have 3 other websites that are using the NON 64-bit SQL Express Edition and they all work fine. Is there any way for me to change this to the NON 64-bit? Any other ideas?

The Database should also work with 64.bit Editions of SQL Server.  Be sure you have open the SQL Ports in your Firewall for privat and/or Domain Network.  Also check if you have successful enabled the TCP/IP Protokoll on the SQL Configuration.

One thing to point out, the 64-bit database/website is the only one using DNN 7, all of my other sites (Which work) are using DNN 6x.

I have approximately 6 databases on my local server, all of which work except for my latest DNN7 site that does not show any tables in it. Do you think it would still be a networking issue? Where exactly would I go to make these changes to the SQL Configuration?

Thanks for the reply

Update:

I realized I definitely messed up during the installation process and picked the default DB method. I wish I realized this sooner before I put 60+ hours into this website. Here is what my connection strings look like:

<connectionstrings>
<add providername="System.Data.SqlClient" connectionstring="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" name="SiteSqlServer">
</add></connectionstrings>
<appsettings>
<add value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" key="SiteSqlServer">
</add></appsettings>

Is there any way to change this to the SQL Server connection strings without losing my data? I switched the connection string to test it and it takes me to an installation page.

DNN 7.x have higher requements as DNN 6 or lower. Be sure you have running as Minimum SQL Server 2008 with Service Packs and IIS 7.5 (Win 7, Win 8, Win Server 2008 R2 or higher)

Be sure you have downgrade you local System the security and have disabled UAC! The file base Connection string should worked also.

Personaly I am working always with real SQL Database and SQL Server Authentication to be sure my developing worked well on all Database configuration szenariouses.
