Hi Roger and Sunil;

I tried editing the EditEvents, and when a user logs in and starts a new event, it does come up with the Basic text editor. The setting seems to be sticky per user and also follows the user between all the different HTML modules. Once the "Rich Text" mode is selected (on some random page), it comes up selected in Events.  The code edits (below) did change the initial behaviour, but I'm still trying to figure out the logic. The "Rich Text Editor" seems to be a lot more sticky than the "Basic Text Box"  One of Sunil's links did say that the setting was in the user's profile, but I have no idea if there is a handle on this setting....(other than for a developer!)

Roger and Sunil;

I have changed the default mode in both EditHtml and EditEvents.  The "Rich Text Editor" setting is still stubbornly preferred, but it is less so now.

I still can't figure out what logic is controlling this setting!

In EditHtlm.aspx:

<dnn:texteditor id="txtContent" runat="server" height="400" width="100%" DefaultMode="Basic"></dnn:texteditor>

It seems to store the setting in ViewState, I'm not sure where that is then stored from session to session (or even if at all).

I did try to set it in code, which equally took no notice.

Hi
I think the DefaultMode option when set, then it change only the initial behaviour. if the user switched to other mode in any html module then it will get affected as we are editing the code for html module at core level. You need to have find a way by which you can edit that specific module.

Thanks,

I think the problem is the way the value is stored by core DNN, it isn't set for a specific module, it is set for all modules.

Not knowing what editor you are using, but you may be able to set some options on the editor itself that limits the users ability to add html or the like. Bit of a long shot though.
