How to populate a ddl from stored procs using DAL2. I found a nice example, but too complex; he uses a hierarchical structure, see paragraph "Stored Procedures"  (see http://www.bitboxx.net/blog/tabid/55/...).

The post that you referred to has a lot of good information. Why do you think it is too complex? The hierachial structure is because of the type of module. Just write a simpler SPROC if that is what you need
