Hi,

We have recently set up Event Logging Notification Emails for "Login Failure" event logs. The settings we have added are:

"100 Occurrences in 1 Hour."

We have enabled the "Send Log Notifications" Scheduled task to run every 5 minutes.

Although we have set up 100 Occurrences in 1 Hour, emails are still being sent every 5 minutes with between 2 and 10 Login Failures on the email, even though we have specified 100 Occurrences in 1 Hour.

if the event is 100 failures per hour, the scheduler will check on any run, wether this limit has been reached (during the past 60 minutes) and report all failure logins since last scheduler run. I don't see any misbehaviour.

Thanks Sebastian.

I only want to be notified of Login Failures if more than 100 happen in 1 Hour. Is this possible?

you should configure the scheduler job to run just once per hour.

Hi Sebastian,

We want the scheduler to run and check the event log failed attempts every 5 minutes but only alert us if there have been more than 100 Login Failures within the past hour.

We are getting an email every 5 minutes, however there have only been 50 login failures in the last hour.
