Hi DNN!

My company is looking at a dedicated server. Everybody seems to like powerdnn's support, but their server hardware looks pretty dated:

I didn't think they even sold dual core xeons anymore. I'm just comparing here to GoDaddy (http://www.godaddy.com/hosting/dedica...

Has anybody had issues with these dedicated servers? I've seen good things about their support, but we do want our site to run well.

Thanks!

I use www.Alentus.com, compare their dedicated servers. They have the best customer support of any host I have ever dealt with, in my opinion.

you might contact them directly for the machines they are using currently.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the post.  We use only premium, high-end DELL servers.  We attach them to ultra-redundant storage arrays and then we virtualize on top of that.  When our website says "Dual Core Xeon", you're actually getting two dedicated cores off of a ultra-high end 256core cluster.  The reason we say 2-core Xeon is because saying something like "2 dedicated cores off of a super high end 256core cluster that use super high end processors" doesn't really fit well on the website.

You do bring up a good point though and I'll talk with our web team about it.  We use only premium hardware and we don't want an abbreviation to reflect poorly.

I can confidently say that your site will run better and faster with us than with anybody else.

Hi guys!

Thanks for the help!

Tony: I think I'm still confused here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 256 core supercluster is nice, but that doesn't help me at all right? Ultimately, wouldn't I still just be getting two cores and a bit of memory?

I'm just concerned about only having a dual core processor and up to 6gb of ram (I just can't afford the 950/month option).

Mike
