Hello,

currently running 6.02.01 and would like to upgrade to 07.00.06.

Some questions:

1) Should I upgrade to a later 06 version first? If so, to which version should I fist upgrade?

2) I have backed up the IIS folder & the SQL database.  Can anyone help with with instructions as to how to set up a test web site & db so I can do a trial upgrade.  I can restore the DB ok to a new DB, but I am unsure how to set up a test web site.

Cheers

Richard

HI Richard,

1.) I just upgraded 6.02.00 to 7.00.06 and the only problem I had was that LiveID and OpenID authentication extensions were not upgraded and caused errors which prevented me from login in on 7. (there's a post below about that)  However, this problem would likely be something particular to my installation. If everybody had it I guess we'd know already. So, you should be able to upgrade straight to 7.

Isn't the official word that the upgrade routine will run through all versions, since 5.x on, unless you had heavy customization? (What I heard Shaun Walker say in a keynote once :-) )

2.) WIKI has it, http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Upgrading-DotNetNuke.aspx

Hope this helps.

Hi Ivan,

thank you for your reply..

I have haven't made any 'recompile' changes although I have modified code in installed modules extensively.

I am  going to try and set up the IIS 'copy' first then .. and will let you know how I get on ..

Regards

Richard
