we have a community listing module lists out the communities and links to their respective home pages.
the settings only allows 1 page for the links to redirect to and it adds the different ones IDs into the end of the url.
so what we want is for a way to each link to go to separate homepage urls.

The way I see I can do this is make a form of the full lists of groups, IDs, home page urls
then have that original listing go to a dummy group page that has my own module.
my own module will lookup the ID from the url and lookup its home page url from the form enties.

is there anything built in already that can take a url of the current page and redirect to a new url from a list created and maintained somewhere in the site?

sorry, Doug, I don't really understand what you mean. With e.g. the Links module you may create a list of links, each pointing to a single URL.
