Hello,

I'm trying to make a way where a user can save a file into the DNN file system, and it's mostly good to go, but I'd like to use the DnnFolderDropDownList, and have been running into problems. Most notably, it doesn't seem to show any folders - as if I'm missing setting a portal ID or binding it somehow... but I don't see any obvious way to do that.

Is there any kind of documentation on that, or does somebody have an example of how it works?

AFAIK you have to set the permission parameters to load the relevant folders (as the requests integrate based on permissions) - if you look into managetabs you'll see an example e.g. cboFolders.Services.Parameters.Add("permission", "ADD");

Thanks Cathal... that helps a lot.

I'm still seeing some weird behavior though - I think from some javascript trouble. The layout of the drop down is also broken slightly - it's showing the "drag to expand" thing below the box's drop down. I suspect maybe I'm missing some referenced css or additional files or something... I'm also seeing some javascript errors for random stuff in dnn.dropdownlist.js...  

Would you happen to have any ideas?

Im afraid not, I haven't had a chance to work with those controls. They were relatively late additions to 7.1.0 to address specific problems (slow loading functions that had folder/page dropdowns), so it's probable they have not been used much outside their specific use-cases.Its entirely possible they need to be tweaked to work better in generic situations (looking at the code, they're used within div's so they may assume that and that might be the cause of the layout issue -alternatively as they're only used on "edit" screens they may be relying on files loaded within those functions . Regardless, the best thing to do is log it as an issue, though I would wait a little while as we're doing some work on the issue tracker currently
