I'm hopeful, but haven't been able to find anything yet. Is there any way I can listen for an event to be raised when a user authenticates in DNN? I know in the AuthenticationLoginBase there is an OnUserAuthentication event, but I don't want to do anything with Login controls. I simply want to be able to respond to a user authenticating in the system. I'm just curious if anyone can help point me in the right direction??

 Thanks in advance!

Briana

DNN does not ripple up any events that are externally exposed via the API in any meaningful way currently - its one of those areas that is really sadly overlooked.

If you just want to perform some action when a user logs in - the most common approach is to redirect all logins to a hidden page - then forward them on from there.

If you want to so something more passive like count logins or the like you could maybe setup a background process that tracks the system error dbo.EventLog table - which can keep a record of each login if that option is turned on.

Hi Wes,

Yea, that's kind of what I was expecting to hear unfortunately. I don't really want to force the hidden login. I was hoping maybe the EventLog exposed some event notifications, but I guess not. I'll have to find a creative way to solve this, but at least I know for sure what I can't do...so, that's a great start! I really appreciate the response, it helps greatly!
