Instead of working on AF why not embrace YAF and help them? If you look at the functionality in YAF and compare that with AF it is such a big difference and the only thing YAF lacks is journal integration...for the rest it is near to perfect.

If Evoq Social and Evoq Content does not do well, the first casualty will be DNNPlatform. It will easy to kill it because it is not bringing in any money to DNN plus DNN maintains separate source code for DNN Content and DNN Platform. They will just as easily can stop improving DNN Platform as they have stopped improving ActiveForums. I know they will swear it will not happen but look at the history. They will just do us a favor and leave DNN Platform to the community to work on and improve it.

I don't understand their business plan of going social. I doubt anyone else will succeed against Facebook when Google (Google+) failed. There is no "social" revolution anymore. It has reached it's peak and it is declining.

I have 5 websites with Active Social on them. All are active. 9000 members on one. All use forums. 1% use social feature e.g. journal.. If they do use journal their questions/comments go unnoticed.

About YAF: Maybe it is a good idea for new websites to use it if they are looking for a forum module. However, what about people who have been using AF for years?

It is a shame that a module like AF is being wasted.

To people out there:

If you are reading this thread, please comment. For or against, it does not matter. If you have a DNN website, this affects you directly. Do not worry about hurting peoples feelings. Especially DNN's.... cause when they take away those modules from you they do not and will not worry about your feelings.

I do have to give credit to DNN for allowing me to talk here. I do not have nice things to say about their module acquisition policy. If Will Morgenweck was the moderator here I would have been banned or all my posts would have been moderated. :)

The speed of the releases is very impressing the last year. What i like to see is that features implemented at older versions a fully content localizable. Localization entered at 5.5 but later features as tags, lists and that sort of things are not localizable.

For americans thats not a big problem. If your'e from europe like me, thats a very big problem because of the different languages spoken here. And support for localizaion and arabic based languages (RTL) is also a point that i would like to see in the product soon.

For the rest i think the generated code is to heavy on js and that kills the performace of sites with visitors on slow internet lines. Thinks introduced like ms ajax, telerik, jquery ui, knokout, swkin widgets (anybody used those?) are being loaded at most ot the pages. I think its time to loose a few of those or make it for skinner more easly to loose the loaded js.

Overall im critical at the product, but looking at the progress in the last year i'm impressed and like the current flow thats got in the dnn platform.
