Have you specified any site aliases in the host>site management ?

I have not done so as the site is new and I have not even logged in yet. I was wondering if the install that was using the binding www.dnndev.me  has done that

Ok. If there is a site alias as www.dnndev.me then delete that one.

Yes you were absolutly right, in case anyone else has the same problem I opened the portalias table in sql and modified the alias to dnndev.me Made sure the binding was the same then restarted IIS and all is working Yippee.

If christoph is viewing he might want to add this to his blog wiki to alert users who have the same issue as to a workaround.
