Beggar me after all that, when I tried to install the test module I have been told to upgrade my Version of DNN.
Does any one know what version of DNN I need?

Not only does anyone know what version I need  (I saw some mention in the blog of 7.02 but when I look on DNN I cannot see this version listed ) .  but how would I go about upgrading the software and keeping the existing data/settings?? I cannot find anything relevant o the latest versions.

You've not given any information. So here is a guess.

I'm assuming you are installing the module into a DNN instance other than the one you built it on. If so then that needs to be at least at the version you built it against.

Best wishes,

Not sure what information you mean as this was a brand new install of DNN7.0, VS2012 express, DAL2 project templates and i was simply following Chris Hammonds blog steps to set up my first module project. after creating a project you then have to release it and install it in DNN and that is when you get the install error.

Anyway in case some one else is following this and are at the same point, you just need to open the .dnn file in your project and ammend the verion number there.
