THanks all! Pls, try to verify again with the code you received. I have found a bug and will log it. It works now....stupid I did not see this earlier :) BTW, it runs DNN Platform, no Evoq yet.....

The reason the verification code did not work is that I use "Change all Urls in the site to be lower case" in iFinity URLMaster 2.80. After adding 'verificationcode' to [forceLowerCaseRegex] it worked as expected.

Mariette,
my congratulations. the new sites looks fine (maybe Events module still needs a new template, but besides): it's great! :)

Sebastian, yes you are correct. It really needs something that matches my design and I will make that later. It does not have priority now, I even consider turning 'Events' off untill I really need it. Making a design for the Events module is easy because it is templated :)

Very nice looking, this definitively works as an inspiration for me on how a good site should look!

I get some error ("Invalid verification code") when clicking on the link in the verification email.

I really liked the menu with the sub-menu's having small icons that helps to get a nice overview. Could you tell me if this is something that comes through a module, or did you hack it yourself? It would be really great if you could tell a bit more on what you have used, like if it is Evoq or CE, if you have used some commercial modules, built stuff yourself or used open source things. I see that you use Active Forum, is that correct? I myself try to use YAF, because it is a free module, was it so that Active Forum is no longer developed as a free module, but you get it as a part of Evoq, or have I mixed things up?

Great work, sites like this will make people aware of that dnn is the best choice for CMS solutions!

Thanks Arctica, pls try to verify again. It should work now.

  1. What I have done with the menu can be done with each menu shipped with DNN. Have a look at the page setting -> advanced settings ->appearance and then choose an icon for your page that matches the subject. It is that easy :)
  2. I use Active Forums (https://activeforums.codeplex.com/) because I use it since version 1.0. I implemented a forum because many users still like forums but in the long run I think Q&A will be the answer :P Active Forums is open source since Will Morgenweck sold his company to DNN and now works for DNN. For my library I use Ventrian News Articles (http://www.ventrian.com/modules/news-articles). For Q&A I use dnnxExcange (https://dnnxchange.codeplex.com/) and I changed the module and its layout a bit to my needs. Social Groups are part of DNN Platform 7.1.2. My editor is CKEditor (https://dnnckeditor.codeplex.com/). For the downloads I use the document module (https://dnndocuments.codeplex.com/) but I probably replace that with something else soon. And as last I use the Events Module (https://dnnevents.codeplex.com/).

You see I do not use a lot of modules. IMHO with DNN Platform you don't many modules to make a nice site. In the next months I will add more eye candy to some pages because I think it is very important how a site looks. It is the same as you go shopping, the windows of the shops invite you to go into the store....

I will write more about the hardware I use etcetra...
