FYI 7.4.1 is a bug fix release which will come out in April. 7.5.0 will be out later this year, likely June (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-... is the first blog about CTP1 of 7.5.0, which showcases using MVC based modules). The reason why the issue was changed, was that 7.5.0 is being updated to use .net 4.5 and WebAPI 2.0. WebAPI 2 has a new dependency on json.net 4.7.11, so the WebAPI updates brought 4.5.11 in (at present we use 4.5.7) - the roadmap (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community/...) is in the process of being updated for some new dates

I see that the resolution for this issue is now to be provided in DNN 8.0. https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/brow...

The issue tracker also shows that while Will Strohl is willing to also work on it, he would like more info about issues that occurred. I don't know if the issues he refers to are user/admin issues or code issues, but since I am affected by this bug on about 6 or 7 sites, I thought I would list some admin issues here. In all cases the server does not respond, leaving a circling icon (wheel) as we wait for a page list or a file/folder list that never comes. This makes it impossible to do at least these things:

  • Add existing module to a page
  • Upload a file through File Management
  • Use Export for a module

There may be others, but these are the showstoppers right now.

Just to clarify the meaning of using Export for a Module, it is this process:

Mouse-over the gear icon for a module that supports export (even the HTML module has it) and click on the menu item that says "Export Content". Then in the dialog that opens up, try to choose a different folder in the "Folder" drop-down list. The effect of this bug is that you only see a wheel spinning instead of a tree list of folders to choose from.
