Guys/Girls correct me if I am wrong, but to answer the question: To set up a permanent redirect, you would go to (in the older version I am using) host> Portals>click edit this portal>advanced settings>portal alias then select permanent redirect, type the name of the permanent redirect and click update.
Also it sounds like you may be asking how to clean up the website by removing the /aspx ? if this is so you can do this by clicking host>Host settings>advanced settings> Friendly Url's.... I could be wrong on both though... please get a second opinion.

Hi,
Thanks for the assist guys.
I looked at using the host/portals/redirect method but it didn't seem to give me the solution I wanted but thanks anyway Dodgefate.
In the end I ended up going the IIS route, as we have IIS7.
It was really easy that way and the hardest part was getting permission to install the IIS URL ReWrite Module.
URL for this is here http://www.iis.net/learn/extensions/url-rewrite-module/using-the-url-rewrite-module.
Then in my web.config
