Hi,

I would be very interested to see how your problem works out, and any possible solutions. I had a DNN site hosted there for about a year, but also had performance issues. I was getting RSS feed errors timing out all the time and about a dozen errors everyday from host tracker ping service not being able to reach my website.

I was disabling schedule items, disabling rss, ran under an isolated app pool, deleting uneccessary modules, and was still lacking in acceptable performance. My site is a tiny website and hardly busy, and WSS was always pointing the finger at my DNN install when i voiced concern about declining performance.

In the end, i moved to a virtual dedicated server running 512mb. On the server, i have plesk installed with all the included services, ms sql express, my DNN website, and a friends php based site. My site is now MUCH faster, never times out, and i am back to running DNN with all the bells and whistles. I have only been on this account for 2 months, but love it so much, i am looking to go to a full dedicated server, and hopefully share it with a few friends. 512mb is tight, but i am getting by just fine, at least for now.

You may be able to install a local/development copy of your site on your local network and then run a bunch of performance tools/monitoring apps to see when memory needs increase and if they don't get released too. There's a whole host of tools for doing this kind of thing, but requires full access to the host machine running IIS.

If still curious, you can read about Isolated Application Pools at:

You bet.  I've got it isolated down to one of a couple possible modules.  Chances are it's one of my custom modules.  There is a remote possibility (I'm sure extremely remote) that it's the DNN Search module.  Again, it's probably one of my custom modules on the homepage.  I'm slowly adding them back to test out which one is leaking.  I'm pretty sure it's one of my modules though.  I'll post the confirmation when I get it.

Thanks for the tips on the local host testing.  Hopefully I won't need to employ that.

For the record, I know I got really frustrated with the responses I was getting from WebSecureStores (I felt like I asked them for help with an issue to which they responded they didn't see an issue followed by me paying extra money only to have them go from 0-60 threatening to kick me off the server).  I was frustrated.  But, I've been with them for some time now and this was a quirk in customer service.  99% of my experience has been very positive with them.  Overall I'm very happy with them.

I use Web Secure Stores too and do find their support pretty responsive (WAY better than 1and1!!!) but SUPER cryptic. Who ever it is (and from whatever country - I think they use some off-shore support!) just hates to type and use full sentences. I wish I knew which employee was responding and what their schedule was!!

Happy weekend.
