I was running 7.1.1.  I noticed that when trying to navigate to a page under the Admin section (i.e. Event Viewer, Extensions, Site Log, etc...) I would get a generic page stating "DNN Error" with a button "Return To Site".  Since I couldn't navigate to the "Site Log" page, I couldn't get an exact error message.  I did notice, however, that in the address bar there is a message, "Default.aspx?tabid=57&error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object.&content=0".

I updated the site to DNN 7.1.2 hoping the problem would get fixed during the upgrade, however, I'm still having the same issue.

Would someone be able to help me fix this?  I would sure appreciate the help!

Thanks in advance.

Plese check dll Versions, of the core dll's.  Be Aware that the databse is running on SQL-Server 2008 (100) or higher level.  Be sure your permissions are propper set and inherit to all subfolders and files.  Be sure you are using jQuery 1.9.1 and jQueryUI 1.10.3 (check on host Settings).  Be sure you are running DNN on .NET 4.x and you have installed all fixes on the Windows Server 2008 / 2008R2.

Should have mentioned this before... But I am on a shared hosting environment.  And also, the site was operating properly with 7.1.0.  I just hadn't accessed the admin menu since I had updated to 7.1.1 (and don't have the backup anymore).

Not exactly sure how to check the dll versions, but the dlls in my bin folder are the same as the dlls in the upgrade package.

Database is SQL Server 2008.

Permissions are correct.

I confirmed the correct versions of jQuery & jQuery UI.

I also confirmed that I am on .NET 4.0.

As far as the patches for Windows Server 2008, I'll be submitting a ticket with my host to ensure they have it up to date.

Anything else that I should be looking for/at?

Thanks so much for your help!

if you can get to admin->event viewer check out what the real error is -if you cant do that then either run scripts (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/event-viewer) or enable All on log4net http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/log4net-in-dotnetnuke
