I'd like to upgrade .net from 4.0 to 4.5

I'm running the latest 7.x update of DNN.

Are there any issue with upgrading .net?

AFAIK, NO.

DNN will quite happily continue to run in asp.net 4.0 mode
- when you install asp.net upgrades what internally happens is that the new version is placed in its own folders
- and only gets used by applications that specifically request it
- the web.config file used by dnn requests 4.0 libraries and compile actions.
