I was wondering if there is a way when a user registers that I can call a function to add additional information to a custom table of mine. I want to track the IP Address\UserID for a user when they register. And then based on an algorithm  I wrote, search through the sitelog and determine the domain name or keywords the new user used to find my site along with the tabid and URL path the new user first came to.

This way, I want to be able to have metrics on which referrals result in the most actual user registrations as opposed to just tracking views. And which pages on my site attracted the most users resulting in registrations.

Any advice? I plan on doing this for my upcoming Portal Stats module I am releasing. Currently, the only (and easiest) way I can think of doing this is via a hardcoded line of code in DNN.

Or, perhaps I can do this through a membership provider? My question on the membership providers is if you can have more than one (as I already have a provider that handles shared users across portals) at the same time?

Hi Jason,

I am pretty sure this can be done using the new 4.3.x Event Queue - I will need to do something similar (when a user registers I want to check my Smart-Thinker Events to see if they are invited to any as external invites and convert them to user-invites with the new userID.

I haven't had time to look but I think this can be achieved - have you read this blog:

Keep me posted please.

Thanks

verry intresting, only the default registration process does not post an event to the qeue

you would still need to solve that problem, custom register module comes to my mind

I was just wondering if an event on User Registration was ever made?

I am considering writing a custom trigger to do some stuff when a user registers, but I would much rather build it into my module...
